Why does my hair look dry and frizzy after I keep it in braids or a bun to get waves?

I have naturally straight hair with ocasional kinks in it (would not consider it wavy but its not board straight)

i love messy waves / beach hair

but i hate damaging my hair with curling irons and heat

on my quest for no heat waves i have tried sleeping in buns and braids

my hair does get some waves from these methods

but it ALWAYS looks dry and frizzy (and huge like a mane haha)

when I straighten my hair it looks very sleek and shiny

so i keep wondering why my hair drys up and frizzes up when I am using these no heat curling methods

when i use a curling iron my hair gets the same sleek shiny look as it does when i straighten it

i thought it might be my hair rubbing on my sheets and pillow causing the frizz

but when i keep my hair in braids/buns during the day i still get that frizzed dry look

i deep condition every week and i know i don't have horrible split ends

i have considered using moisturising products, since i've already tried mouse and gels (still frizzed and less curl)

but i don't know if the weight of the added product would cause my waves to fall since my hair is naturally straight

how can i prevent my waves from looking so dry!Why does my hair look dry and frizzy after I keep it in braids or a bun to get waves?
your hair type sounds a lot like mine.

i normally just make sure I use conditioner on the tips of my hair...and i found that blowdrying my hair with a round brush (not till its fully dry) and braiding it helps it keep the frizz away. Also i use this shiny serum stuff before that...and it works pretty good. Why does my hair look dry and frizzy after I keep it in braids or a bun to get waves?
get out of the shower, towel dry your hair for a few mins so its not seeping wet, put some mousse and gel in your hair and put it in a bun. put hairspray on. do this at night.. wake up the next morning take it out of the bun and put more mousse and gel, then hairspray. it should work!!
Try using CHI silk infusion . pour a size of a dime onto your palms %26amp; just slide it through your hair all over , maybe try it some after your braids or buns just a little though or it might straighten out your waves .
Why don't you use soothing/calming balm on your hair before braiding/or putting it in a bun. Or try using moose if anything. Both work for me, your waves will come out better and not so frizzy.
i have the same problem sista. ://
